About CommuniKids

CommuniKids' philosophy

At CommuniKids, we are passionate about early childhood education and language learning.  The two guiding philosophies of all our programs are total-immersion language learning and a play-based approach to early childhood education.

Our story

CommuniKids began in 2005 as a language enrichment program for children ages 1-8.   As a result of overwhelming interest and demand, we opened a language immersion preschool for children ages 2½-5 in September 2009 at two different locations, in Washington, DC (Tenleytown) and Falls Church, VA.

Benefits to our approach

We believe, based on empirical research and on our own experience, that the younger the child, the more effectively and naturally he or she can learn multiple languages.  We begin teaching children at the same time they are learning their first language, using proven methods that are fun and engaging.   All of our teachers are native speakers with years of experience teaching young children.  CommuniKids programs are also designed to comply with the national “Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century” developed by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).   We recognize that language learning is a long process and encourage children and their families to be lifelong language learners.

We have also implemented the most current “best practices” recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in the design of all of our activities.  The NAEYC promotes the philosophy that children learn best through play.  CommuniKids’ activities are the same type of activities children experience in their preschool or kindergarten classes, but they are conducted entirely in the target language.  Activities include movement, music, games, arts and crafts, puzzles, puppet play, and storytelling.

Employment opportunities

CommuniKids Preschool is hiring for the 2010-2011 school year.  We provide a warm, positive work environment that fosters the growth and development of our teachers.  We offer competitive salaries based on qualifications and experience.  We also provide numerous opportunities for professional development as well as benefits such as health insurance, 401K, Flexible Spending accounts, and seven weeks of paid vacation for our full-time employees.   Qualified candidates please email resumes to info@communikids.com
